The big news broke around noon yesterday that New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton was stepping away from his position as head coach of the Saints.

Payton has been the head coach of the New Orleans Saints since 2006. He led the Saints to their only Super Bowl championship in 2009. Payton is known as an offensive coaching genius. Payton finishes his career with the Saints with a 152-89 record and 9-8 in the playoffs.

Now here comes the rumors and speculations. Most experts and sports news outlets are saying Payton's coaching career isn't over and that he will be back on the field with another team sooner than you think.

Most speculations point to the big star in Arlington, Texas. One reason is that Jerry Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, and the organization haven't really confirmed the job security of current head football coach Mike McCarthy after the Cowboys were bounced out of the first round of the playoffs this season.

Jerry Jones was even quoted after the playoff loss saying "I've got a lot to think about" according to Fannation.com. These two reasons are why eyebrows are being raised all over the NFL and while the speculations are really getting hyped up that Payton could be heading to Dallas.

Add to that, an article released yesterday by USA Today quoting Sean Payton saying,

"We're not writing an obituary today," Payton said at his press conference.

He made it clear that a return to coaching in the future is definitely a possibility. To me, it's not a possibility. It's a certainty. Not this coming season, no, but the season after that, well, absolutely.

So is the Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy gone or does he possibly have one more year in Dallas? Or is it a foregone conclusion that Payton is the heir apparent to the job?

We will have to see how it all shakes out.
