Did you know rock legend Lenny Kravitz was into renovating homes? I sure didn't. But I tell you what, he's got a good enough eye to host one of those home interior shows on HGTV. Granted most of his design ideas fit his rock star persona, but I must say I'm diggin' his decorating style. Kravitz was born into fame with his parents being film producer,  Seymour Kravitz and actress Roxie Roker (Helen from The Jeffersons).

Well before he was a Grammy Award-winning musician Kravitz lived the life of the rich and famous, which obviously helped develop his designing creative juices. Below you can tour some of his amazing properties and check out his renovating skills on former cribs as well. Speaking of which, Kravitz was said to have fallen in love with New Orleans after attending the 1994 Jazz Fest to see the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin.

The rock icon bought and completely overhauled a 220-year-old Creole cottage in the Vieux Carré (the French Quarter) at 612 Dauphine St. in 1994. He lived there (not exclusively) until 2012 before ultimately listing the 1,800-square-foot living hideaway.

His agent for the Big Easy bachelor pad was Realtor Rachel Perkoff of Re/Max N.O. Properties. Perkoff said the structure dates back to 1830 and was once owned by a free woman of color. It also still has the faded name "Oyster Loaf" on the front from its days of being a restaurant. Situated one block from Bourbon Street the distressed exterior of the home makes it a great place to live under the radar, especially if you're music royalty. The distressed exterior is completely misleading once you walk inside and see the luxurious decor that awaits.

According to public records Kravitz sold the two-story, one-bedroom French Quarters cottage to Brian Swier for $655K in 2012. Swier did a few modifications to the crib adding the spiral staircase imported from France and expanding the mezzanine level before he listed the 19th-century Creole home for $1.16 million a few years later.

overhauled to his own interior design tastes, she said. He has also teamed with CB2 on a line of home furniture and decor and has launched his own firm, Kravitz Design.

Mister Kravitz, who fancies himself a bit of a designer, owns an eponymous design firm that has mostly done up the day-core for his own homes–including this one–as well as a recording studio at The Setai hotel and The Florida Room bar at the Delano hotel, both in Miami, FL. Some reports indicate Mister Kravitz and his team were hired to do over the day-core for a private residence in Portland, OR but we don’t know nuthin‘ specific about that.
