So, where does one begin to talk about Eric Clapton? Once a person has become as famous, as legendary as Clapton, there's just not a lot to say about him.

Clapton was born on March 30, 1945 in Surrey, England and rose to fame as the lead guitarist for the Yardbirds. Ironically, It was on his birthday in 1965 that he was replaced in the Yardbirds by Jeff Beck.

Clapton's list of accomplishments is almost as long as the list of bands he has been involved with. From the Yardbirds, Clapton went  on to join John Mayall's Blues Breakers, he was a key member of Blind Faith and, of course, the short lived Cream.

Then there was the stint with the studio group, Derek and the Dominoes and the classic, "Layla."

I thought we'd celebrate Clapton's birthday with a live version of that classic hit.
