Groceries for Those in Need This Thursday in Lake Charles
Times are tough now. The economy is not what it used to be and unfortunately, people are losing their jobs more than ever. While the glimmer of hope seems dim to many, there are some great people who are coming together to assist in this time of need.
This Thursday (July 16), the Second Harvest Food Bank will host a contact-free, drive-thru grocery box distribution for A.L.I.C.E community members with enough boxes for 700 cars. No prior registration is required and no paperwork is going to be necessary. This will be a drive thru effort, where one set of groceries will be given per vehicle and placed inside your open trunk or backseat of your vehicle.
A.L.I.C.E is an acronym meaning Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. With the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an alarming cases of lost employment or lost hours and believe me, sometimes we are determined not to ask for help. However, the Second Harvest Food Bank is there to help take some of the pressure off of the average resident.
