The BBC has a new series called "Colour:  The Spectrum of Science".  And a clip from a recent episode is going viral, because it tricks your brain into seeing a black-and-white photo of a castle in FULL COLOR.

It's amazing how the human brain can be tricked into seeing things that just aren't there. When I was a kid, I read the entire World Book Encyclopedia and one of the really cool articles that appeared in there was a bit on optical illusions. There was even a black and white spiral wheel that, if you spin it, it appears to be a rainbow of colors.

This illusion works in a different way altogether. All you have to do is stare at the dot in the middle of the picture and, as they remove the colors from the picture, you should continue to see it in color. If it doesn't work, there must be something wrong with you.

Just kidding, give it a try, you'll be amazed when you stop focusing and see that the picture is, indeed, in black and white.
