Adam Sandler Will Make A Bad Movie ‘On Purpose’ If He Doesn’t Win an Oscar
Adam Sandler has some serious words for Oscar voters this year, and our very souls may depend on it. Either he wins Best Actor at the Academy Awards for his role in Uncut Gems, or next year he will do a movie that “is so bad on purpose, just to make you all pay.” We know what the clear solution is here: Give Adam Sandler his Oscar, darn it. We don’t need another Jack and Jill.
Sandler revealed all this and more in an interview on The Howard Stern Show, where he talks about how much more work he put into campaigning for Oscar consideration than he usually does. Says Sandler: “The Safdie Brothers and everybody worked so hard on the movie that I didn’t want to do what I usually do and just go, ‘Eh, I can’t help you out there.’”
This interview comes the morning after Sandler lost to Adam Driver at the Gotham Awards. That hasn’t stopped Sandler from setting his sights on the Academy Awards, for which he insists he would wear a "Nike tuxedo" in lieu of his casual look. Sandler was recently awarded the title of Best Actor by The National Board of Review, which gives him a boost in the Oscar race. After this interview, not only are we rooting for him out of respect, but also fear.
Uncut Gems hits theaters December 13, 2019.
