The parent company of Fred's Super Dollar Stores has announced more store closings. Just recently the company closed 159 stores across the country including four stores in Acadiana. Recently the company announced an additional 49 underperforming stores would be closing too.

Among the stores slated to be shuttered are the Fred's Super Dollar locations in Eunice, Church Point, and Dequincy. Five other Fred's locations in Louisiana are also on the list in this most recent round of announced closures.

The company has attributed the closing to poor performance as well as the timing of lease expirations as reasons for the closures. Mississippi is that state that has been hit hardest by the most recent round of closures. There will be 17 locations in that state closing their doors. The company also announced that 10 other stores in Arkansas would be included in the latest round of closures.
