I was rummaging around in my desk drawer today look for a certain document when suddenly I came across this image of myself at the tender age of 13. Now, you and I both know I was never really that young, but it's an odd experience seeing this picture for the first time in many, many years.

Yes, believe it or not, I was a Boy Scout. In fact, if I might be allowed to boast a bit, I was an Eagle Scout. the date on the back of this picture says that it was taken on November 15, 1963, so I had just turned 13 and I was every bit as green and naive as I look in the picture. As my mother used to say, "I not only didn't know anything; I didn't even suspect anything."

I just wanted to share this bit of personal nostalgia with you so you can see that, at one time, I was an upstanding citizen and a pretty good kid as 13-year-olds go. My years in Boy Scouts were pretty amazing and I got to do a lot of things and have a lot of adventures that other kids my age never experienced. I like to think that, perhaps, I've carried some of the values I learned back then into my adult life.

Then again, I'm in radio, so there goes that theory.
