Former NFL Player Charged with Murder in Baton Rouge
A former NFL player has been charged with murder in what authorities described as a drug-related killing in Louisiana back in 2013.
Devin Holland, 31, was arrested in the shooting death of Timothy Pena during an apparent drug deal six years ago, according to Baton Rouge police.
Holland played football for McNeese State and Tulane before signing a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he played in four games in 2011. He also signed with the Washington Redskins before being released in 2013.
According to booking records, DNA evidence linked Holland to a truck where Pena was found fatally wounded.
Another man, Antoine Robinson, was charged in the killing earlier this month. He was also linked to the scene through DNA.
Pena had a cellphone that included text messages describing a meeting for a narcotics deal, according to booking documents.
He died at a hospital after being found with a gunshot wound in the back of the head on December 17, 2013.
