There was a buzz in SWLA for the first McNeese men's home basketball game after the university announced the first 2,000 fans would receive free tickets. However, that game has been canceled.

The Pokes were set for action tonight against Bacone College from Oklahoma, but several Warrior players have tested positive for COVID-19.

McNeese Head Basketball Coach Heath Schroyer had this to say:

It's just one of those things...it's very unfortunate. Obviously we're excited to be able to play at home. Our preseason has already been cut short, now it's cut shorter. I've said it all along. We have to be very fluid this year and have to take it one day at a time.

Schroyer also announced the Cowboys would now be holding a Blue and White scrimmage game instead, and encouraged fans to still come out and support the team:

We'll treat this as a trial run with the cheerleaders, band, Cowgirl Kickers…all that goes into creating a great atmosphere.

Your next chance to catch a home game for the Cowboys will be Wednesday, December 2 at 6:30pm at the Burton Coliseum.
