FDA Expands Recall of Infant Ibuprofen

The recall of some very popular brands of infant pain reliever by the FDA has been extended after experts discovered that the possibly dangerous mistake made by the manufacturer is a bigger issue than previously thought.

Pharmaceutical giant Tris-Pharma makes several generic, over-the-counter drugs for multiple retailers to be sold under each of their brand name.  NBC news is reporting that liquid infant ibuprofen sold at Walmart (Equate), CVS Pharmacy (CVS Health), and Family Dollar (Family Wellness) could contain higher levels of the drug than is shown on the label.  Tris-Pharma warns that giving this medicine to your infant could cause "nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, stomach bleeding, and kidney damage."  Originally, the drug maker issued a recall for three batches in November of last year.  This expanded recall doubles the amount of defective medicine.
