New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees says his injured right thumb has improved noticeably over the past few days.

Brees says in a recent radio interview that he's now able to brush his teeth and pick up a glass of water with his right hand, things he was not able to do earlier in the week.

Brees injured his right thumb in the Saints' 27-9 setback to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 2 and had surgery just a couple of days later.

No official return date has ever been established for Brees, but most speculated the injury would keep him out 6-8 weeks.
