The parent company of Dress Barn has announced plans to shutter all 650 locations as part of a cost-saving measure. Dress Barn is owned and operated by the Ascena Retail Group. However, a specific timetable on when specific locations of the store would close was not announced.

The company currently operates 13 Dress Barn stores in Louisiana. Those stores are located in Baton Rouge, Bossier City, Denham Springs, Gonzales, Gretna, Harahan, Houma, Lafayette, Lake Charles, Metairie, New Orleans, Shreveport, and Slidell.

In a statement released yesterday concerning the planned closures Dress Barn CFO Steven Taylor said,

Dressbarn chain has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today’s retail environment.

Dress Barn has been a part of the women's fashion landscape since 1962. The store's parent company also operates Ann Taylor, Lane Bryant, Catherines, Cacique, and Justice stores throughout the country. There has been no word as to whether or not Ascena Retail has any plans to close or restructure those stores and brands.
