Dr. Lynn E. Foret Pleads Guilty to Fraud

Last week, Dr. Lynn E. Foret, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Richard T. Haik to defrauding Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance companies out of about $1 million.

The court had charged that,in the six year period between 2003 to 2009, Foret injected his patients’ knees with a steroid solution while falsely billing and receiving nearly a million dollars in payments for using a much more expensive drug called Hyalgan.

Foret is, of course a very well known Lake Charles medical doctor who specialized in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Foret closed his practice last Devember.

Now, the one time very successful doctor faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine, restitution, and three years of supervised release for the count of heath care fraud.
So far, a sentencing date has not been set.
