The DOTD will be holding a public ZOOM meeting this Thursday on their I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge Project, and you can voice your concerns or ideas.

The meeting will be held from 5:30pm to 7:00pm this Thursday, and DOTD officials want your input. They're looking for local input on alternatives to their proposed plan, benefits, and impacts of their planned improvements. The meeting will also cover questions on how the project will be financed and the possibility of tolls and public-private partnerships.

You can join the meeting online by clicking here. You can also listen to the meeting by calling 646-876-9923 and using the passcode 459770.

The meeting will be live and include a pre-recorded presentation. After the presentation, comments and questions will be taken with the chat feature on the ZOOM call. If you're not able to attend the meeting this Thursday, you'll be able to watch the recording of the call by clicking here.

I would gladly pay a toll to pay for a new Calcasieu River bridge. I take the bridge twice a day coming to and leaving work. It's gotten to the point where I won't drive over the bridge with my family in the car. I have to honest, I feel like I'm gambling and taking my life in my hands every time I go over it. I personally have no faith in the structural integrity of the bridge and feel it's very unsafe. The bridge was built in 1952 and has an extremely low sufficiency rating. The National Bridge Inventory Database rated the I-10 Calcasieu River bridge at a 6.6% sufficiency rating out of 100. Now that's scary.
