DIY: Homemade Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer
With the current coronavirus scare, the availability of hand sanitizers is down and prices are up. So, what is one to do? How about Do It Yourself: make your own antibacterial hand sanitizer at home.
TRIGGER WARNING: We will be recommending that you use vodka for something other than drinking.
At this point, our best defense against the coronavirus (or the flu, etc.) is to limit our exposure to anyone who isn't feeling well, limit the number of times we touch our face, and keep our hands clean.
It up to you to decide how to best limit your exposure to the virus, but if you choose to use hand sanitizer and you don't want to pay the increased prices, here's a recipe from Good Housekeeping:
INGREDIENTS:
- Vodka (buy the cheapest)
- Essential Oils
- Aloe Vera Gel
That's it, just 3 ingredients! The vodka has the alcohol to kill the germs; the essential oils are to give a pleasant scent to the mix; the aloe vera gel is the medium by which it is all delivered.
RECIPE:
Fill a bottle with about 1 part vodka, 2 parts aloe vera gel, and a few drops of essential oils. Voila: homemade hand sand sanitizer!
For a cheaper recipe, you can use isopropyl alcohol instead of Vodka, as it's about 1/10th the price.
Now, make some sanitizer, use it on your hands, don't touch your face, avoid people, and keep calm.
