We are almost a year removed from when hurricane Laura hit Southwest Louisiana so understandably folks here in Southwest Louisiana are on edge when it comes to seeing areas of disturbed weather start to form.

Such is the case in the Southwestern Caribbean Sea. We just checked in with the National Hurricane Center and we just received their 7:00 am update. They are now forecasting that the area of disturbed weather In the Southwestern Caribbean Sea has an 80% chance of formation.

They are forecasting that the conditions of this area of disturbed weather are favorable and will likely become a tropical depression later this week or early in the weekend while the system moves West-Northwestward to Northwestward over the Caribbean sea.

The National Hurricane Center said

The disturbance is expected to move near or across the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico on Saturday, and move into the western Gulf of Mexico by Sunday where conditions could be favorable for additional development to occur.

We all remember this from around this time last year when we starting watching an area of disturbed weather that turned into Hurricane Laura. Now we are not weathermen so we are not saying that this new system will head towards Southwest Louisiana.

We are just keeping an eye out on it at this time and of course, if this weather issue becomes a problem, we will turn to the professionals and take with KPLC's Wade Hampton for an accurate and professional opinion on what this thing could or will do.

Just keep it tuned here for the latest.
