I recently came back off of a flight a few weeks ago and while I noticed how structured things are with the mask mandate for flights and the fact that many of the terminals were full of people who were excited to be in the friend;y skies again. I couldn't help but notice the number of people who were boarding the flights without socks on their feet. We all know that once you go through TSA, it is mandatory that everything comes out of your pocket and is to be placed into the box that is provided for it to be thoroughly examined and looked through. We also must take off our shoes as contrary to popular belief there are times when items can be hidden in the shoes as well.

Now trust me I understand catching those early morning flights and possibly running late. You barely have time to take a shower before leaving for the airport and sometimes the very last thing you are thinking about is wearing socks. However, after doing a little research on this very subject, you may want to consider throwing a pair on for good safety measures. According to wedmd.com. While the number can differentiate through various sites, there are well over 10,000 flights per day at any given airport. This means that a countless number of shoes, paws, and feet travel those floors on a daily basis. While I would like to assume that many of the airports do a thorough job of cleaning the floors often, you'd have to wonder what time do they have as many of the terminals are busy any time of the day.

According to toe webmd.com, you have to be cautious of where these shoes are coming from and what they pick up as they are walking on the grounds outside leading up to the airport. Some shoes can attract small rocks. sharp objects and other miscellaneous objects that could puncture your feet at any given time. Sure the socks may not provide one hundred percent protection but having your skin readily exposed does not help the situation do any better. While the COVID pandemic is also a thing, what about Athlete's feet or those carrying bacteria or foot fungus that could pass from them to you with no remorse.

While you want to make sure you make it to your destination. You would also want to make sure that you make it there safely and healthy as possible. At the end of the day, the decision is yours, but does it really hurt to throw on a pair of socks before heading out to the airport for your flight?
