McNeese held their own for the first quarter against the 25th ranked BYU Cougars, but missed opportunities and turnovers cost the Cowboys in a 30-3 loss Saturday evening in Provo, Utah. The Pokes are now 3-1 on the season while BYU improved to 3-1.

McNeese led 3-0 on a Gunnar Raborn 20 yard field goal after the first quarter. But Raborn also missed at 35 yarder and had another attempt blocked. Meanwhile, the Cougars went on to score 24 points in the second quarter to take a 24-3 lead at the half. BYU added 2 field goals in the second half. McNeese turned the ball over 3 times in the game.

RB David Hamm led the Cowboys in rushing with 29 yards on 9 carries. Quarterbacks James Tabery and Cody Orgeron combined for 18 of 26 passing for 134 yards. Cody completed a pass to twin brother Parker for the first time in their collegiate careers. Cyron Sutton caught 3 passes for 72 yards. The Cowboy defense held BYU to 291 total yards.

McNeese returns to Cowboy Stadium next Saturday to face the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks.
