The Pokes saw their 11 game home winning streak and season come to an end with a 21-17 loss to Lamar on Saturday evening. The Cowboys finished the year 6-5 and 5-4 in Southland Conference play. McNeese honored 18 seniors before the game.

The first half was a defensive struggle with the Cardinals scoring first on an A J Walker 15 yard run midway through the first quarter. The Cowboys got a 29 yard Gunnar Raborn field goal late in the second quarter to pull the Cowboys to within 4 at 7-3 at the half.

In the third quarter, Lamar jumped out to a 14-3 lead when Case Robinson hauled in a 36 yard pass from Darrell Colbert. On the ensuing kickoff, Ben Jones went 99 yards to make it 14-9 after a failed 2 point conversion attempt. The Cowboys took the lead less than a minute into the fourth when David Hamm ran 63 yards up the middle for a touchdown. The 2 point conversion made it 17-14 McNeese. The Cardinals regained the lead with 2:04 left on a 1 yard Colbert run.

Lamar outgained to Cowboys 448 to 305 with 279 coming on the ground. David Hamm had 166 yards rushing and the Cowboys QBs combined for 8 completions on 32 attempts.
