The McNeese Cowboys got their revenge on the Nicholls State Colonels Saturday evening with a 20-10 win at Cowboy Stadium. In last season's opener, The Colonels beat the Cowboys in Thibodaux, 37-35. That loss kept the Cowboys out of the FCS playoffs. McNeese is now 3-0 and 2-0 in the Southland Conference.

The Cowboys got things started on the 2nd play of the game following a 67-minute lightning delay. Nicholls fumbled the opening kickoff and the Pokes recovered the loose ball. On the very next play, QB James Tabery hit LaWayne Ross for a 16-yard touchdown and the Pokes led 7-0 ten seconds into the game. Tabery finished the night 14-19 for 133 yards and 2 TDs. McNeese led 14-3 at the half and 20-3 late in the game. Nicholls lone touchdown came with six seconds left to play.

Justin Pratt led the Cowboys in rushing with 45 yards on 11 carries. Cyron Sutton caught 5 passes to lead the receivers, including an 11-yard touchdown catch. Gunner Raborn had field goals of 24 and 42 yards. BJ Blunt had another great night on defense, recording 3 sacks to give him 5 on the year.

The Cowboys head to Utah next Saturday to face Brigham Young in Provo.
