Corpus Christi Murder Suspect Arrested In Lake Charles

A murder suspect on the lam from Corpus Christi, TX was arrested yesterday in a Lake Charles motel.

U.S. Marshals were alerted by Marshals from Texas that the suspect, Derek Parra, my be hiding out in SWLA.

They were able to confirm from staff that he was at the Scottish Inn on Broad St.  The Marshals asked the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Lake Charles Police Department to help with the situation as he was considered armed and dangerous.

SWAT was able to talk Parra out of his room, and he surrendered without incident.

According to authorities, they still don't know why Parra was in Lake Charles, but they did say they found a bus ticket to Florida leaving the next day.

He'll be held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center until he's extradited to Texas.
