Coach Viator Completes Coaching Staff With Final Two New Hires
LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA – McNeese football head coach Matt Viator has completed his coaching staff with the announcing of the addition of Tyler Bolfing as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, and Terence Cahee as linebackers coach.
Both Bolfing and Cahee played for Viator and are McNeese graduates.

Tyler Bolfing Bio
Bolfing returns to Cowboy Country after spending the last four seasons in the Big 12 Conference as an offensive analyst at Kansas in 2024 and an offensive quality control coach at Baylor from 2021-2023 and was part of the Baylor staff that won the 2021 Big 12 Conference Championship.
Bolfing joined the Baylor staff in 2021, following two seasons at ULM coaching tight ends and special teams (2019) and quarterbacks (2020). In his first season with the Warhawks, he mentored tight end Josh Pederson to a record-setting season with program records for receptions, yards and touchdowns. Pederson was voted first team All-Sun Belt by the league’s coaches.
Prior to joining the ULM staff, Bolfing coached the tight ends at his alma mater McNeese in 2018. He previously served as a graduate assistant at ULM from 2016-17, working primarily with the quarterbacks and wide receivers.
A native of Montgomery, Texas, Bolfing played quarterback at McNeese from 2012-14, before beginning his coaching career as a student assistant. He helped the Cowboys to the 2015 Southland Conference championship and a perfect 10-0 record under Viator.
Bolfing holds degrees from McNeese (2015) and ULM (2017). He is married to the former Lakeyn Fontenot, a McNeese graduate and former Cowgirl softball player, and have a daughter named Brett.
Terence Cahee Bio
Cahee returns to McNeese after spending the last three seasons as the head coach at Wossman High School in Monroe while also serving as the school’s Dean of Students.
Prior to joining Wossman, the Westlake native coached and taught at Lake Charles College Prep (2018-22), Washington-Marion High School (2015-18) and Molo Middle School (2013-15). At LCCP, he was the defensive coordinator and coached defensive backs while also acting as the recruiting coordinator.
During his high school career, he coached and developed 22 players that signed Division I scholarships, including Cowboy running back Tre’Vonte Citizen; seven who signed with Division II programs, 5 NAIA signees and 12 who signed with JUCO programs.
A 2013 McNeese graduate, Cahee began his coaching career with McNeese in 2014 as a defense quality control coach under Viator and defensive coordinator Lance Guidry.
As a player for the Cowboys from 2009-12, he was a two-time All-Southland Conference defensive back, earned All-American honors in 2012, and was named the McNeese MVP in 2012.
