The holidays are approaching quickly and 2020 will come to end, and we think all of us are ready for the year to be over.

Christmas is this Friday and New Year's Eve is next Thursday, and folks in Southwest Louisiana are getting ready to celebrate the season with family and friends while staying safe.

While you are enjoying your holiday season with your loved ones, remember the city of Lake Charles will observe both Christmas and New Year's Day, which will change the days your trash and garbage pickup will be.

For residents who have the City of Lake Charles picking up your trash there will not be any pickup for Christmas Day on Friday, December 25. Instead, your trash will be picked up on Saturday, December 26.

For New Year's Day, it's the same thing for that Friday, January 1, 2021. Instead of getting your trash picked up that day, the city will pick it up on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

In a nutshell, if your trash is scheduled to be picked up on Fridays, then the next two weeks, they will pick it up on Saturdays.

The Wood Waste Facility, the Team Green Recycling Truck, and the Nelson Ball Field Recycling Stations will be closed on Friday, December 25 and Saturday, December 26 and also on Friday, January 1 and Saturday January 2, 2021. Their facilities will reopen the following Mondays after each holiday.

Have a great and safe holiday, folks. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
