When I think of growing up as a kid, nothing was better than a big bowl of cereal and Saturday morning cartoons. At five or six years old, I think the hardest decision I had to make was to pick a cereal, then beg mom to get it on grocery day.

Choosing a cereal as a kid in the '80s was no easy task. Let’s see, there was Count Chocula, Cocoa Puffs, Lucky Charms, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Trix, Rice Krispies, Honey Nut Cheerios, Fruity Pebble,  and my all-time favorite, Cap’n Crunch.

Cap’n Crunch came in only a few varieties. I was a sucker for Cap’n Crunch’s Crunch Berries. Any given Saturday morning, you could find me still in my matching G.I. Joe pajamas with a Shirt Tail’s cartoon TV tray and a big bowl of that sweet golden crispy cereal.

Imagine my surprise all these years later when I find Cap’n Crunch’s Berrytastic Pancake Mix with a side of their mysterious Ocean Blue Maple Syrup. I felt like a kid again. Well, almost like a kid again. The Saturday morning cartoons have long since been replaced by Saturday morning reruns of the Golden Girls. I still enjoy the cereal, but nothing beats Dorothy, Blanche, Sophia, Rose, and this yummy twist to an old breakfast favorite.

Try it for yourself and let me know what you think.
