The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced today that the Cameron ferry, M/V Acadia, will be down for the next eight weeks. According to their announcement, the vessel must be dry docked for repairs on its propulsion system. The need for the dry dock is so the vessel can be properly assessed and repaired correctly and checked for any further damage.

It might seem as though it just got back in service, and you would be correct. The vessel just got back to the area after Hurricane Laura, after being checked over for damage from the two hurricanes. It previously resumed its service in Cameron on November 12. Now, I guess we will just all have to take Highway 27 up and over with I-10 to get on our way to and from work.

The alternate routes due to the ferry outage can be found on the DOT website.
