Calcasieu Sheriff’s Office to Host Women’s Self-Defense Seminars
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is getting set to host some women’s self-defense seminars in July.
Ladies, if you have been wanting to learn how to defend yourself and others, this class is just for you and it's free. It's a great opportunity to learn things like being aware of your surroundings and recognizing when things are not quite right. This will also teach you how to assess a situation and take appropriate actions.
The class is geared toward women 16 years of age and older. The classes will take place on Saturday, July 10 and Saturday, July 17. The classes will be held all over the parish on these two dates. You need to call the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office to find out the locations of the classes.
According to the CPSO,
The self-defense seminar will include lectures and hands-on instruction in women’s self-defense techniques.
Women will learn defenses against sudden violent attacks, situational awareness, fear management, and basic defenses against common grabs and strikes.
This half-day seminar will be taught by CPSO deputies who are certified self-defense instructors.
If you are interested in enrolling into either class, you must pre-register by calling the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office at 337-491-3850. If you are wanting to do the class, you need to register now, as these classes fill up fast and spots are limited.
