Just like the City of Lake Charles, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury (CPPJ) has announced there will be closures for the upcoming Martin Luther King holiday.

First, all CPPJ offices will be closed this Monday, January 18, including the offices located on Lakeshore Drive and the permit offices currently located at Prien Lake Park due to damage the office sustained during Hurricane Laura.

What about the trash pick up, you ask? Unlike the City of Lake Charles where your trash pickup will be interrupted on the holiday, the CPPJ said parish trash pickup will not be interrupted.

So if Waste Management picks up your garbage and trash on Mondays, they will still pick it up this Monday. The only thing is that the Residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers located at 2915 Post Oak Road in Sulphur and 5500 B Swift Plant Road in Lake Charles will be closed for the holiday.

On another note, the CPPJ has called a press conference for this Friday, January 15, to provide an update on current COVID-19 statistics and vaccine information. It will be live streamed on the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury Facebook page at 10:30am this Friday.
