Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band are back on the road, and they've been playing their 1980 album The River in its entirety.

But in Pittsburgh Saturday night (Jan. 16), The Boss threw a curve ball with a surprise cover of the late David Bowie's "Rebel Rebel." Springsteen told the crowd that Bowie had been a big early supporter of his in Britain -- even covering Springsteen's songs in concert.

Springsteen said the two met when Bowie was in Philadelphia recording the album Young Americans, noting that he took a Greyhound bus to meet him, if that gives you any idea how early in Springsteen's career that was.
