Brooklyn Bishop Robbed As His Sunday Morning Service Livestreamed
The NYPD is currently looking for suspects that robbed Brooklyn Bishop Lamor M. Whitehead, during the lifestream of his Sunday morning sermon on July 24, 2022! The shocked pastor was in the middle of his sermon when the three armed men kicked in the door of his church, Leaders of Tomorrow International (Brooklyn Campus).
One man held the small in-person congregation at gunpoint and ordered them not to move, including a man that was near the stage as the burglary was in progress. A second gunman rushed to the pulpit and proceeded to dig in the preacher's pockets pulling out money. He also took Bishop Whitehead and his wife's wedding rings and then headed for the door. The third robber doubled checked the clergyman's pockets as if looking for something specific before he made a run for it.
Amazingly this all happened as church members watch helplessly both in person and live on Facebook! Almost on cue as Whitehead preached, “How many of you have lost your faith because you saw somebody else die with what you were about to go through?” the armed men busted into the sanctuary cameras rolling and guns were drawn. The unbelievable event happened around 11:14 a.m. and thankfully no one was hurt. Below is the actual footage of the robbery, news coverage of the incident, and Bishop Whitehead speaking about what happened.
At the time of the crime, it was first reported the thieves made off with $400,000 in jewelry. Later police reported the three suspects made off with roughly $1 million in combined cash and jewelry! What is a Bishop doing with that kind of expensive jewelry and a large amount of cash in his pocket during Sunday morning service? Good question. However, the 44-year-old clergyman was known for being flashy. Although wearing designer suits and driving a Bentley isn't cause for a person to get robbed.
It is also no secret that the high-profile preacher at one point in his life served five years in prison. As reported by AllHipHop, Whitehead was convicted for running a fraudulent auto-loan scheme, and charged with several counts of identity theft and grand larceny. While incarcerated he turned his life around. Since his release in 2013, the Bronx man of God has been reformed, ordained, and consecrated as a Bishop.
Bishop Lamor M. Whitehead has some street cred as well, being that he is the cousin of rap female legend Foxy Brown. Among the stars of Hip Hop, Whitehead has been linked to 50 Cent, Treach from Naughty By Nature, and spoke at the funerals of rap pioneers Biz Markie and Black Rob. So, he is pretty popular with celebs in the New York area as well. Meanwhile, the NYPD is still searching for the three robbery suspects and actively investigating the motive behind the crime.
