BPSO Becomes New Partner With Cops N’ Cribs Program
The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office announced they've partnered with the Southwest Louisiana Safe Sleep Task Force and the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office to offer the Cops N’ Cribs program to their parish.
It's a public safety initiative where BPSO Deputies are being trained to recognize unsafe sleeping practices and risk factors for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) during their daily duties. They will now be trained to have an educational intervention with caregivers when they respond or see a potentially dangerous environment for children.
The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office has joined other SWLA Cops N’ Cribs agencies including the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lake Charles Police Department, Sulphur Police Department, Westlake Police Department, and Iowa Police Department.
As well as providing education for expecting and new parents, the program also provides portable Pack and Play cribs for families who cannot afford safe sleep environments for their infants.
