Get One More Look at Rami Malek’s Freddie Mercury in the Final ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Trailer
People are going to have a lot of opinions about Bohemian Rhapsody, but there’s one thing we can all pretty much agree on. Rami Malek undoubtedly captures the visual essence of Freddie Mercury.
The final trailer for Bohemian Rhapsody reveals the most footage yet of Malek’s Queen frontman. We get a good look at his flamboyant outfits, his journey from long hair and bangs to Freddie’s later shorter, cropped look, and most importantly, the way his rock star moves on stage. The Live Aid footage – no doubt the best part of the movie (also the only good part of the movie, in my opinion) – is stunning, with Malek strutting in his white tank top and lip-syncing Queen hits so well you almost think you’re watching the real thing.
That said, the first reviews for the Bryan Singer movie haven’t been great. ScreenCrush’s own Matt Singer (not related) wrote in his review that the director “never gets beyond the superficial to tell us anything profound or meaningful about Queen or Freddie Mercury or the perils of rock stardom.” I couldn’t agree more, and have even bigger issues with how the film handles the rock icon’s queer sexuality and AIDS diagnosis. But you can decide for yourself when Bohemian Rhapsody hits theaters next week on November 2.
