Perhaps you heard that the new Avengers movie, Avengers: Endgame, finally debuted a trailer, poster, and official title yesterday. I say perhaps, but let’s be real: If you are reading this, it is not the first you’re hearing this news. I know that because according to this tweet, the Endgame trailer has already been viewed an absurd number of times: 289 million times in just 24 hours:

The trailer has been viewed 42 million times on YouTube alone; presumably this number factors in all the different places you could watch it, like Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram as well. It’s just a ludicrous number; I did a little math, and if my calculations are correct (they are probably not, I’m bad at math, that’s why I write about superhero movies for a living) that means about 200,000 people every single minute were watching this trailer for 24 hours straight. That’s a lot of people.

If you are one of the few people left on the planet who haven’t watched the trailer yet, here it is.

Avengers: Endgame opens in theaters on April 26, 2019. By the time all is said and done, will it be the first movie trailer to be watched 1 billion times? That doesn’t seem like an unreasonable number anymore. At the rate it’s going, it’ll hit that number by the end of 2018.
