Mardi Gras is coming and as many prepare for a day full of parades and beads going down Ryan street. Many of us will be working, whether participating in the parades or our regular 9 to 5. However, things will not be running as usual when it comes to certain entities in  Calcasieu Parish.

The announcement came out today that all Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed next Tuesday, March 1 for Mardi Gras. They will resume their normally scheduled workday on Wednesday, March 2. Don't fret as Garbage and trash pickup will run as normally scheduled for all waste management customers. If there are any questions about trash pickup, you can call 337-436-7229.

The residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers in Lake Charles and Sulphur will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday and will resume on Thursday, March 3. Also for the families, The Zone will be open and will be alcohol and tobacco-free on Mardi Gras from 11:30-3:30 on the parade route in between the Charleston Building and the Parish Courthouse on Ryan street. There will be live music with DJ, food, and fun for the entire family.
