The majority of travelers pack this item because it is necessary while exploring and when they are temporarily in locations without power outlets while on vacation.

According to the FAA, this device can overheat and create an explosion or fire in the aircraft while in flight, which is why it is not allowed in checked luggage. They claim that flight attendants are trained to handle such situations inside the cabin if they arise.

The FAA has announced that they are banning phone charging banks from checked luggage entering all commercial aircrafts.

All lithium-ion batteries are capable of overheating and undergoing a process called thermal runaway. Thermal runaway can occur without warning as a result of various factors, including if the battery is damaged, overheated, exposed to water, overcharged, or improperly packed.

So, remember to pack your phone charger power bank in your carry-on luggage and you will be good to go.
