4 World Trade Center Building is Now Tallest Building in United States

This past week the spire was placed on the top of the new World Trade building in New York bringing the building to a height of 1,776 feet. This makes the building the worlds third tallest building and the tallest in the United States.

Construction workers applauded as the spire was attached. The building is a symbol of the nation's resolve following the 911 attacks. According to MSN the 408-foot spire, weighing 758 tons, will serve as a world-class broadcast antenna. An LED-powered light emanating from it will be seen from miles away and a beacon will be at the top to ward off aircraft.

The building will open in 2014.
