20 Inmates Try to Take Over Louisiana Juvenile Detention Center
Things got really tense yesterday in Bridge City, Louisiana just west of New Orleans in Jefferson Parish.
It was about 2:00 am Thursday, June 16, when officials say that five of the inmates at the Bridge City Center for Youth escaped. Three of those teens were captured and taken into custody later Thursday morning. One of those escaped teens was captured later in the day on Thursday afternoon. Officials report that one of those inmates is still at-large.
However, this was only the beginning of an extremely dramatic day at the juvenile detention center which sits on the banks of the Mississippi River.
In a story originally reported by the New York Post, we learn that late Thursday night, approximately twenty inmates broke loose and attempted to take over control of the detention center.
Prison security called for a SWAT team for reinforcement just before midnight as a fight broke out when inmates attempted to take over control from prison guards.
According to police reports, the issue was quickly resolved, however that 16 year old male inmate from Tangipahoa Parish is still on the loose. Anyone with information is asked to call local law enforcement immediately, or the Command Center at 504-401-3359.
