Portable toilets are one of life's bittersweet ironies. We all hate to go in them but when we go in them we are glad they are there to help relieve the urges of nature's call. Such was the case Thursday morning in Kenner on a construction site near the Louis Armstrong International Airport.

Authorities say a 28-year-old worker took a break from his job about 10:30. He made his way into the job site facilities. While in the process of taking care of his business the portable toilet was run over by a dump truck. Investigators say the driver of the dump truck did not see the portable toilet as he was backing up

The worker was transported to a nearby hospital with severe injuries. Officials don't think the injuries are life-threatening. Let's hope that is the case.  Reports say the injured man suffered a collapsed lung, fractures to his pelvis and possible internal bleeding.

Let's face it, none of us want to be in a portable bathroom any longer than we absolutely have to be. I can only imagine the feeling of horror this gentleman experienced as he felt the plastic portal begin to tip over. If I am being truthful I don't know what I'd fear more, being run over by a dump truck or being covered in porta-potty gravy.

Regardless, we extend our best wishes to the injured man. It's a hell of a way to spend your second day on the job. Yeah, it was only his second day.
