I have been to many McNeese Basketball games and have always had a great time. My question is why are the crowds so small?

I have lots of theories. We all know that Lake Charles is a football town. We also know that Lake Charles is fickle and really only supports winning teams. You can see that by the fall in attendance for late season football games when the Pokes are having a less than stellar year. Then we come to basketball. The McNeese Basketball team celebrates it's 300th SLC victory on March 2nd at the Burton Coliseum. It will be interesting to see how many fans will show up. Is there a solution for the lack of attendance?

The first thing that has to be done is to cultivate a fan base for McNeese Basketball. Why not have a game when elementary school students are given free tickets? The seats are going empty now and maybe they would have fun and come back. Maybe just start giving away upper level tickets period. Those seats are always empty! I bet local businesses would love to give away tickets. Though the school would not make money off of ticket sales, it would off of concessions. And once again ... maybe these people would have a good time and come back. Let's face it, it's time for some radical thinking here!

It's time to think outside of the box. These teams deserve to have fans in the seats!
