I was wandering through Prien Lake Mall the other day when I walked past Santa. We made eye contact and he gave me a knowing nod. I thought at the time that it would be nice if I stopped and thanked him for all the cool stuff he brought me over the years and that got me to thinking about, "What was the coolest thing Santa ever brought me?"

I didn't have to think about that answer for very long. I have no idea how old I was when I got the gift, but the hours of enjoyment stick out in my mind. I guess I must have been 8 or 9 years-old when, one Christmas, I found a Lionel train under the tree. I hadn't even asked for that for Christmas, but when I unwrapped the gift, I knew immediately that it was just what I wanted!

I spent so many hours playing with that train set that I'm sure I didn't come out of my room for days. This was not an elaborate train set and that the track was just a big oval and the train went around and around, but when you have a kid's imagination, there is a lot more to it than that. Wouldn't it be nice if we all still had that wonderful childhood sense of imagination? What a shame that we tend to lose that sense of wonder and imagination.

Think back to your own childhood. Did Santa bring you a gift that really stands out in your memory? Tell us what it was.
