One thing I've learned about Louisiana is that food is a big part of the culture, and nothing says Louisiana food quite like boudin. Boudin is one of those great foods that is pure Louisiana. As luck would have it, the 6th Annual Boudin Wars is going to be at the Brimstone Museum in Sulphur this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. It's a boudin lover's dream come true. You'll have plenty of boudin recipes to sample, and get to taste "The Best Boudin in Southwest Louisnana."

Sulphur will also present a brand new event this weekend, called "Faith, Family & Community." The whole idea behind the new event is to honor the many volunteers in the community. Part of the "Faith, Family & Community" day includes the Stars and Stripes Car Show. The car show gets underway at 9 a.m. Saturday, and runs through the afternoon. Of course, there's food and fun all afternoon. There's still more to do!

The kids will love trunk-or-treating in Heritage Square just before this week's presentation of "Movies Under the Stars." This week, the whole family will love "Hocus Pocus" starring Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy. Hocus Pocus starts at sundown.

Tickets are $10, and can be purchased at the Brimstone Museum or at www.brimstonemuseum.org. Each ticket allows the bearer to get a small sample from each boudin vendor. Boudin Wars is an event previously recognized by the Southeastern Tourism Society (STS) as an “STS Top 20 Event” sponsored by the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
