In Jennings at the Oil and Gas Park at Exit 64, the Jeff Davis Tourism Commission is ready to construct a new office building and they aren’t forgetting the national reptile of Louisiana.

Bids will be awarded next month with construction to begin soon afterwards and the resident Jennings alligators will have an indoor area where the 3 to 4,000 monthly visitors to the park will be able to actually hold an alligator, without someone screaming at them to ‘choot’em’.

Even the outdoor pond at the new ‘Gator Chateau’ will be covered so the cold-blooded animals don’t have to worry about the summer sun tanning their hides.  Such luxury, and the tourists can get a close up look at the el lagarto.  (Spanish term for ‘the lizard’)
