The Allen Parish Sheriff's Office received a complaint of a man with a rifle standing in the middle of Eli Smith Road in Oberlin. The man in question, Patrick Noel, 36 was ordered by police to drop the rifle he was carrying. Instead of dropping the rifle, he raised it and pointed at the deputies who responded to the call.

At that point, the deputies were forced to fire upon Noel hitting him at least once, but Noel fled the fray and ran down the road to his residence. At that point, S.W.A.T teams from Allen and Beauregard parishes made entry into his residence and took him into custody.

Noel was transported to a hospital for treatment.

There was no information about why Noel was wanted in the first place.
