When I first got into radio we were one of the many radio stations across America that carried "Paul Harvey's News and Comments." It was America's most listened too radio show. People listened for it every day in the morning and noon hour. It was a radio show that you did not miss. His delivery and unashamed patriotism made him an icon all across the United States. His delivery and trade mark pauses made him unique and interesting. He was a true "wordsmith." I define "wordsmith" as a person who paints pictures with his words. It is the true magic of radio. It is why I got into radio. Paul Harvey was the best.

Here is one of Paul Harvey's newscast.

Later in his career Paul Harvey launched another radio show called "The rest of the Story." This daily feature played later in the day on radio stations across America and showed off Paul's writing skills as well as his perfect delivery. Here is one episode.

Paul Harvey also did "If I Were the Devil." It was one of his most famous broadcast and I thought it summed up his feelings on our nation and religion. It is kind of scary.

Then there is the famous "God Made A Farmer."

Paul Harvey was not only a radio personality. According to Wickopedia ... Harvey was named Salesman of the Year, Commentator of the Year, Person of the Year, Father of the Year, and American of the Year. He was elected to the National Association of Broadcasters National Radio Hall of Fame and Oklahoma Hall of Fame, and appeared on the Gallup poll list of America's most admired men. In addition he received 11 Freedom Foundation Awards as well as the Horatio Alger Award. Paul Harvey was named to the DeMolay Hall of Fame, a Masonic youth organization, on June 25, 1993.

In 2005, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' most prestigious civilian award, by President George W. Bush.[33]

On May 18, 2007, he received an honorary degree from Washington University in St. Louis.

Paul Harvey was the best. His messages shaped and reflected America. His voice immediately caught my attention when the Dodge commercial started during last nights game. It always did. I miss listening to him everyday and always will. God broke the mold after he made Paul Harvey.
