Video Killed the Radio Star but it Launched MTV 31 Years Ago [VIDEO]

It was waaaaay past our bedtime, but we were at a slumber party, all rules were thrown out the window.  July 31, 1981 -- a group of girls in pajamas, sitting on sleeping bags and blankets, bowls of snacks littering the floor, cans of Tab and Fresca held tightly.  Waiting...waiting...waiting.  Waiting for the tv to warm up...waiting for midnight...waiting for August 1, 1981 and the beginning of a whole new world in music...MTV!
