As we mentioned yesterday, we are now in the peak part of the 2015 Hurricane season and things can start happening very fast. We're all used to the number of storms that seem to crop up out of nowhere during these last few months of hurricane season.

That low pressure system known as invest 96 we told you about yesterday is now a tropical depression and, if things continue to develop the way they are, this system could become tropical storm Danny later today.

According to the National Weather Service, this system has a well-defined circulation within the storm with additional strengthening expected over the days ahead. It's possible that the system could become a hurricane by Thursday or Friday.

The storm is moving westward at 13 mph with maximum sustained winds of 35 mph. While some strengthening may occur over the next few days, the long term forecast expects the system to weaken before approaching the Lesser Antilles early next week.
