Good news on the crime front. The man wanted for attempted murder, John Dalton McCarty has surrendered to authorities.

McCarty was being sought in connection with a stabbing that took place in DeQuincy and authorities felt that friends or family might have been sheltering the suspect. It turns out that the authorities were right and that McCarty was staying at his father's house.

McCarty turned himself in this morning at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. McCarty's father is facing charges as an accessory after the fact.

McCarty is being held on $300,000 bond.

The stabbing victim was treated and released at a local hospital.

McCarty says the stabbing was in self defense.
