If you read yesterday's story about the fake cop working in the Lake Area, you'll be happy to now that the CPSO has nabbed a suspect. Kim Myers, spokeswoman for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, released a statement this morning identifying the suspect in the case as Nikolas R. Brown, 35, Longville.

Deputies say they responded to call about a man in a dark truck, complete with police lights. Brown allegedly pulled a man over in Moss Bluff. Brown was later identified by   DeQuincy Police Chief Michael Suchanek, as well as several other people.

At one time, Brown had been a DeQuincy Reserve Officer, but DQ Police Chief Suchanek points out that Brown does not have any authority to pull over anyone for anything. Reserve deputies only have authority if the happen to be working with the direct supervision of the agency.

At the time of his arrest, Brown admitted that he had indeed stopped at least one driver here in Calcasieu Parish. Brown was arrested and charged with false personation and released on a misdemeanor summons, Myers said. Detectives seized his blue lights as well as several other items of police-related equipment.
