Budget cuts are coming down across the nation right now, no matter the organization or industry. Even close to home, budget cuts are plentiful.

Budget cuts are nothing new, but it seems they are ubiquitous these days.  There are budget in just about every sector of business and now those cuts are moving in on higher education. McNeese State University could be one of those schools facing major cuts.

 

Recently, it was learned that the University of Louisiana System has suffered budget cuts of f just over  8.6 million this year and is looking at a possible $54 million cut next year. The system includes not only McNeese but Grambling, Tech, Nicholls, Northwestern, SLU, ULL, ULM and UNO.

McNeese State University may be the next in line for major cuts. The Board of Regents recently announced that the University of Louisiana System suffered an $8.6 million cut this year, but will suffer a $54 million cut next year. That system includes McNeese, Grambling University, Louisiana Tech University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern Louisiana University, ULL, ULM and UNO. The cuts will be system wide.

Other education systems receiving cuts include the LSU System, Southern University System and Louisiana Community and Technical College System.
