As predicted, what was Hurricane Danny has now been downgraded to a tropical depression, but that doesn't mean all is quiet in the tropics. No sooner had we finished with Danny but another low pressure system is developing about 1200 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Chances are this system will become tropical storm Erika later today.

Right now the National Hurricane Center is giving this low pressure system about a 90% chance of developing into a full blown tropical storm in the next 48 hours. Right now the system is moving westward at about 20 m.p.h. This puts what will probably become Erika on pretty much the same track as Danny which could spell good news for all since we saw what conditions on that route did to Danny.

Right now it's looks like Erika will not cause in problems on the American mainland, but things are starting to happen, as they do around this time of year, so we'll keep you posted on the tropics right here and on the air.
